Do you feel powerless to follow Jesus in victory? Do you keep letting the devil win in your life? You’re not alone. I think all of us have felt that way at some point. Due to some serious health issues I’ve been facing, combined with a physical/chemistry issue, which predisposes me towards depression, I’ve been in a dark place recently.
Last night I prayed, “Jesus, please save me, I’m not able to save myself.” This morning I woke up with the realization of what’s going on here. The devil and his demons have been messing with my mind. Not cool. Not okay. Not going to happen today.
Adam was formed from earthen dirt. So we, his descendants – our physical bodies are made of dirt. I don’t know the details of the devil’s creation. Somehow, I think he was made of stronger stuff. The demons are older, more powerful and immortal.
But the Bible says in James 4:7, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
This morning I pulled my necklace from where it hung from on my mirror and put it on. It’s a silver cross. Engraved on its surface is the verse 1 John 4:4. In the past, the pendant has been like Dumbo’s feather to me – something I can hold onto so that I remember that I can fly.
1 John 4:4 says, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”
God is much greater than the devil. The devil, though powerful and crafty, is only a created being. As followers of Jesus, we have nothing to fear from the demons. If we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and we resist the devil, we can’t help but win!
If you believe and follow Jesus, the spirit of Jesus is inside you. Brothers and sisters, we know God’s Word is true. Keep resisting and the demons will flee! If you have Jesus in your heart, the only way to lose is not to fight.
I’m going to continue to walk into God’s calling for my life. I’m going to keep writing books where Jesus is the hero!
Are you going to keep fighting too? What is God calling you to do?
